A few original Licences still remain in the custody of the Revd George Rogerson, now incumbent of Peak Forest. They are for the following persons, and the entries of their marriages will be found in the preceding pages-vizt
Henry KIRK and Mary DAVENPORT, 1785.

Footnotes in Original

[1] A note on the back of the leaf for 1746 says:- “John Ashe, Minister came to Peak Forest May the 3d 1747.” He apparently succeeded Mr. Rose, as I find under 1746-7, “The Rev. Mr Jonathan Rose, Minister of Peak Forest. Buried Feby tbe 10th.”
[2] This marriage is No. 92 in the book, and the next is. No. 125, so evidently some leaves have been lost. John Ashe, Minister, signs the Register for Stephen Beard's marriage as he had done before for many years. This marriage is signed by Robert Thorp, Minister, and the next by J. Wolstenholm, so the defect may be owing to change of Incumbents.
